10 HOT WEATHER BEAUTY TIPS

1. Avoid using powder based makeup
In the hot weather, powder makeup can highlight the creases of your skin and can get clumpy when you sweat as well. It’s much better to use cream based foundation, blush and eyeshadow, all of which will go on much smoother, fill fine lines and they won’t cake up when you get hot.
2. Store nail polish in the fridge
When nail polish heats up it can change the consistency of the polish and bubbles can form in it, which can wreck all the hard work you have put into a home manicure. Hot weather will also make nail polish take an age to dry, so keep it cool by storing your nail polish in the refrigerator. If you don’t have enough room to keep your nail polish in the refrigerator all the time, pop it in there for an hour before you use it and that will do the trick.
3. Treat a dry, itchy scalp with yoghurt
As well as drying out hair, the hot sun can also dry out your scalp and leave it itchy and the skin flaking. For a quick, DIY, remedy for this, crush two aspirins and dissolve them in a tablespoon of water and then add two tablespoons of natural yoghurt. Mix it all together, massage it into your scalp and leave it on your hair for fifteen minutes. Then, when you wash and condition your hair as usual, your itchy scalp will be gone.
4. Tame frizz with coconut oil
You can buy over-the-counter anti-frizz sprays but why bother when you can make your own at home out of natural ingredients? All you need to do is to mix equal parts of coconut oil and avocado oil together in a plastic spray bottle. Whenever your hair gets out of control, just give your hair a light spray with this mixture and your dry, frizzy hair will be back under control again.
5. Treat bikini line rash with chamomile teabags
Bikini line rash is an unavoidable part of summer for many women and the heat just aggravates the problem. To quickly soothe the soreness and reduce the redness of bikini line rash, take a few chamomile tea bags that you have already used and pop them into the freezer for ten minutes to cool down. Then lay the teabags on the affected area and the herbs will calm the rash.
6. Protect yourself from the heat and the sun
Finally, as we have already had some particularly hot days already this summer, we couldn’t leave this list without a warning about the importance of protecting yourself against the heat. You know you should wear sunscreen to protect your skin, but in very hot weather, a hat is also the best way to protect you against heat stroke and, of course, drink plenty of water too, so that you do not become dehydrated.
7. Use dry shampoo at night
Dry shampoo can be a life saver at any time of the year, but it really comes into its own in the hot weather. If you are not going to have time to wash your hair the next morning, apply dry shampoo at night before you go to bed. Dry shampoo works better if you leave it in overnight, because it will have more time to absorb more of the oil and perspiration.
8. Stop hair colour fading with vinegar
Any hair colour can be ruined by the salt of the sea and the bright sunlight, but you can protect the colour of you hair with vinegar. When you’ve had a day in the sun, spritz your hair with a mixture of half water, half apple cider vinegar and it will bring back the colour and the life back into your hair and it will make the colour last for much longer.
9. Use an avocado mask to moisturise sun-dried hair
The summer means sun, salt from the sea and chlorine from swimming pools, and all of that can quickly dry out your hair and leave it feeling like straw. Here’s a great recipe for a hair mask that will put all that lost moisture back in your hair. Mix one egg with the flesh of a ripe avocado and a tablespoon of honey in a blender. Apply the mixture to your hair and leave it in for about twenty minutes and then wash it out.
10. Invest in waterproof makeup
Whether or not you plan on going swimming, the heat and your sweat can make your makeup smudge and run in the hot weather. Waterproof makeup may be a little pricier than your usual makeup, but it will be well worth the investment for those very hot summer days.
