TOP-10-FABULOUS WISDOM QUOTES FROM WINSTON CHURCHILL

WINSTON CHURCHILL

1-“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
This is one of wise quotes by Winston Churchill that accentuates the importance of adaptability. If you can only play one role, and are happy to play just one role, your life will not improve. You may master that role, but what happens when it becomes redundant? What happens when you are asked to play a new role but are stricken, because you simply don’t know how to?
In life, we shouldn’t just focus on change; we should also focus on progress. This is something that is done consciously; we are aware that we are taking considerable actions to progress. Sometimes, we have to change for the sake of a relationship. Other times, we have to change for the sake of a career. Great sportsmen adapt their game and change for the sake of the team. And as they get older, they have to adapt their game to accommodate their slowing speed and increased fatigue.
2-“The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
Truth is infallible. It is the one thing we can rely on in this world, and the only thing that never changes. It doesn’t change with age, doesn’t get shaped by different people, doesn’t get swept away by a hurricane. It stays the same, rooted in the same spot, telling the same stories.
Truth gives us strength because of its eternality. No matter what happens; no matter how it gets ignored or derided, we can always draw strength from it because it is always there.
3-“If you are going through Hell, keep going.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
Hell doesn’t sound like a particularly nice place to go through, but sometimes we have to go through tough times or situations. Life has its ups, but it also has its downs. Testing times befall us all, but it is how we react to these testing times that is important.
Do we give up, throw the towel in? Or do we persevere?
The answer is that we should keep going. Hellish situations test our character, but perseverance is a key to success. Hell doesn’t last for ever; there will always be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Life rewards those who work for it.
4-“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
If you want to live your life pleasing people, it generally means that you shy away from conflict. As such, you will say people just to please them, in the hope that they won’t start an argument.
Sometimes, though, conflict is necessary. Saying things just to please people can leave you deeply unhappy, and it can lead to stagnation. Nothing changes, nothing ever gets better. Conflict always brings about change and improvements.
5-“Never, never, never give in!”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
This is probably one of the most famous quotes by Winston Churchill. If you want an example of why you should never give in, all you need to do is take a look at Sir Winston Churchill’s life. Had he given in, the War would have been lost. Millions of people would have lived under the cloak of Nazi’s oppression.
Although the repercussions of you giving in will not quite be the same, the idea is still the same: if you have dreams that you know you can achieve, you simply must not give in. Giving in means that you are destined to live a joyless life of dissatisfaction. There is no need to give in; everything can be achieved.
6-“In war, resolution; in defeat, defiance; in victory, magnanimity.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
Okay, so you’re probably not going to war anytime soon, but this quote can be applied to life regardless of the context. When in the middle of a task, you need to work out ways to resolve it. When you lose, you need to be defiant. And when you win, you should always win with good grace. Never gloat.
7-“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
Sometimes, there are times in life where there is a chance that something you might say will upset a few people. In fact, it might upset them so much that they will become your enemies.
Standing up for what you think is right, will create enemies. There will always be people who oppose what you say and what you feel is right, and you may even be placed in such a situation where your ethics cost you a friend. But standing up for what you know is right is important. Your ethics come before anything else in this world. Create enemies if you must, but never let anybody suppress your morals.
8-“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
This is another one of fabulous quotes by Winston Churchill. As you full well know, it takes really a lot of courage to stand up and give a speech to hundreds, thousands of people. Indeed, it takes a lot of courage to stand up and speak to just a clutch of people.
But it also takes courage to know when to sit down and listen to someone else. It takes courage to know when it is time to step back and admit that someone else can do something better than you or knows something that surpasses your own knowledge. It takes courage to tuck your ego away momentarily and listen to the opinion of others.
9-“Personally I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.”
  – Sir Winston Churchill
Who said you need to go to school to learn something? All you have to do is buy a few books and read. Learning is that simple!
10-“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
     – Sir Winston Churchill
Life is a learning curve, a constant experiment. Just because you succeed at something one day, doesn’t mean that it’s all over. Picasso produced many so-called great works of art, but in his mind they were all experiments. They were all small successes on the way to one great masterpiece. Your success is not final; it is just a pit-stop on the road to even greater success.
Similarly, any failure you experience is not fatal. Instead, you should see failure as the opportunity to learn from your mistakes, to grow and to to improve. We all fail; even Churchill had failures. But the great people among us get back on the horse and come back stronger.
